Before we start, reflect for a moment to find out what skin type you have. You should be able to figure this out on your own, based on how your skin has reacted in the past. The types are; oily skin, dry skin, sensitive skin, sun-damaged skin, or if you don’t suffer from any of those it is safe to say you have a normal skin type.
Step 1: Cleanse
Cleansing is a very important step in this 3-step process to great skin care. Cleansing removes all the oils, and dirt from your skin that allows you to apply revitalizing products, while remaining bacteria free. Find a good cleanser, either foam or gel that suits your skin type. Avoid contact with soap bars to your face as they can dry out your skin. The facial skin is an area that is more sensitive to the rest of the body, too much cleansing is not good cleansing. Cleaning your skin twice a day is enough to leave you with young and healthy skin. Any more than twice and you risk doing damage the skin or possibly even drying it out, especially for those who have sensitive skin or are prone to dry skin. Also, try to avoid using extremely hot or cold water as that can also damage the skin. The most ideal method of cleansing is to use a mild cleanser with warm water as a rinse.
Step 2: Exfoliate
A lot of people jump straight from step 1 to step 3 and forget about the importance of step 2. Step 2 is exfoliation, and a very important step in the process of great skin care. Proper exfoliation of the skin can show a very prompt, notable difference. Scrubs and microdermabrasion lotions help keep your skin glowing. They remove the layers of dead skin and leave your skin always feeling fresh and clean. When scrubbing, make sure to use a gentle scrub that isn’t too harsh on your skin. Scrubbing once a week is ideal, doing so more than once will leave your skin feeling irritated. People with dry skin or sensitive skin may experience irritation when using a scrub that isn’t gentle enough. For those with oily skin or even acne, exfoliating is a great method to remove unnecessary oils or dirt that are clogging up your pores.
Ever notice how some men seem to have nicer skin and you just canít figure out why? This is because men exfoliate more often than you think. During their daily shaving in the morning they are removing all the dead skin cells, which help them achieve a more youthful looking skin.
Step 3: Moisturize
This last step is the most important step, but only when it follows the first 2 steps. Applying moisturizer, is the fundamental element in keeping your skin healthy and looking young. If there is one key factor in great skin care that will prolong your skin to stay wrinkle free, it is to use moisturizer multiple times a day. Moisturizer keeps the moisture in your skin and seals it in. Basically, moisturized skin is healthy skin. Be careful not to over-moisturize as it can clog pores, and even cause acne on your skin. Moisturizing only when your skin feels dry or keeping it between 2-3 times a day will keep your skin looking healthier than ever. People with acne should not be moisturizing as much, as it can interfere with certain acne treatments.
For people who are usually outdoors or are in the sun more often, there is a step 4 for you! That step is;
Step 4: Apply Sunscreen
This step is only necessary if you plan on being in the sun, or outdoors at all. Applying sun screen will protect you from the sun’s harmful UV rays. Even if there is cloudy weather, those UV rays will still be able to penetrate and harm your skin. UV rays are very dangerous to your skin and are known to be the number one cause for wrinkles. Use a moisturizer that contains UV protection for use during the day, as well as a moisturizer that does not contain any sun block for night time use. Doing so will maximize your potential for healthy skin and keep you staying wrinkle free. This is the best daily skin care formula for all types of skin.
